2019 Spouse Event classes

As part of your Weekend With WOOD Spouse Event, you’ll attend all three of these classes!

STYLE: “Wave of Grain”

Entertaining is at its casual prime. But that carefree style doesn’t dismiss a polished presentation. Enter wood. As the trend forecast puts the spotlight on textures, nature’s most popular go-to material is making a resurgence is design. It’s ditching opaque paint finishes and letting its natural waves, swirls, and curves provide design pizzazz. Join Traditional Home Senior Style Editor Krissa Rossbund, as she shows how to use wood in different looks to create dramatic statements on the table for memorable gatherings. One look will celebrate the great outdoors, with the second table styled to a more contemporary aesthetic.

FOOD: “C'mon Get App-y”

Wrap up your Weekend with WOOD in the Showcase Kitchen, as freelance writer, restaurant brand manager and level one sommelier Karla Walsh leads you through three enticing appetizers that will be the stars at your next gathering. On the menu:

  • Gluten-Free Pimiento Cheese Poppers

  • Vegan Cashew-Lime Cilantro Hummus with Crudites

  • Low-Calorie Peach-Brie Quesadillas with Lime-Honey Dipping Sauce

MAKE: “Create a Welcoming Welcome Sign”

In this session, Lori Jelagin will assist you in creating a beautiful piece of home décor: an embellished welcome sign out of a piece of wood. It’s the perfect small project for makers of any skill level! You may hand-paint your sign, or stencil it—step-by-step guidance will be provided. The class will be using acrylic paint, hot glue, pre-made flower embellishments with the option of creating your own paper flower embellishments.
